About The Position
The Recycling Specialist (RS) makes service calls to businesses to assess, educate, and implement effective recycling and organics composting programs.
Service calls include visits to grocery stores, restaurants, wholesale food companies, and any business that may generate food waste or recyclable materials.
The RS will determine which programs each business must implement based on laws administered by Cal Recycle, State of California.
The RS will educate business owners, managers, and employees about the relevant program(s) and assist them with compliance.
Education will include one-on-one meetings, group meetings, virtual meetings, and distributing various fliers, collection containers, or other goods.
The RS is responsible for semi-annual follow-ups with businesses, ensuring compliance with the above-listed programs.
This position is approximately 70% fieldwork, with the balance of duties to be done at the Science Discovery office in San Luis Obispo.
The RS will use a tablet with customer relationship management software to track details for each business.
Other duties include training sessions, written correspondence with clients, staff meetings, and miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
