Apparently playing classic POP music just like the record doesn't have much appeal around here.
60s, & 70s with some other decades thrown in.
Everything from "Wichita Lineman" to "Venus" to "Glad All Over".
The added possibility of Classic country (older than, say, 1980) by artists like Patsy Cline, Don Gibson, Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, and so many more.
I've posted a couple of ads and have yet to experience musicianship that goes beyond knowing the chords (or not), and is full of energy and dynamics and discipline.
And VOCALS, not just one guy or gal singing, but 3 or more part harmony.
I'm talkin' Beach Boys and CSN, the Turtles, Spanky and Our Gang, The Association, Mamas & Papas, BEATLES etc.
There are enough "Classic Rock" bands around; let's do something different! POP or Country= (top 40 from a given era)
If anyone out there has such a band and could use an experienced, issue-free, Bass guitarist/guitarist/singer/drummer, here I am again.
Oh, it's THAT guy again !!
I'll tell you now why playing it like the record works:
1.
It's FUN!
2.
The audience is familiar with the original recordings.
3.
It's easier to rehearse - here's the recording, learn your part, count it off !
4.
It's a reference point; no arguing about who plays what and where.
5.
The recordings are available and you can practice at home before coming to rehearsal.
If this makes sense to you and you can take and give constructive criticism, why not have some fun being great instead of mediocre?
One last try .
