Staff Services Analyst - Accounting

*Staff Services Analyst:* * Reason logically and creatively and utilize a variety of analytical techniques to resolve complex governmental and managerial problems.
* Develop and evaluate alternatives.
* Analyze data and present ideas and information effectively.
* Consult with and advise administrators or other interested parties on a wide variety of subject-matter areas.
* Gain and maintain the confidence and cooperation of those contacted during the course of work.
_\*Some duties may differ by department.
_ The *Staff Services Analyst - Accounting *will be directed by the Senior Accounting Officer, Supervisor in the Accounting Department at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH).
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: • Analyze and develop policies and procedures in the implementation of Fi$Cal.
• Use judgement in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as policies, laws and rules, manuals, and job aids for application in Fi$Cal.
• Process medical invoices for payment in a timely manner.
• Post Journal Entries for Prison Industry Authority & Department of General Services.
• Develop, maintain and monitor Fi$Cal databases/spreadsheets to ensure compliance with mandated timelines for responses to control agencies.
• Maintain CalATERS Tables and assist employees with the CalATERS program to process expense, license and travel reimbursements.
• Assist and train employees on new processes in Fi$Cal.
• Prepare Accounts Receivable invoices.
• Perform problem solving and correct errors in daily activities in order to achieve the department goals and objectives.
• Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; audits.
• Back up Accountant I desks in their absence.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade; *and *four years of experience performing analytical, technical, clerical, and/or customer service duties.
Academic education from an accredited college/university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
