Job Summary:
As the winery Accountant, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in accounting, a deep understanding of the wine industry, as well as the ability to oversee financial reporting functions such as accounting duties in areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and budgets.
Responsibilities:
• General accounting for Winery, Vineyard and Partnership
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and ensure accuracy in accounts payable and receivable
- Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile discrepancies
• Manage accounts payable
- Working with management on weekly check runs
• Accounts receivable invoicing
• Process bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salary employees
- Payroll taxes by classification
- Workers-comp reporting - annually
- Simple IRA payroll contributions
• Post Sales from Wine Direct, ResNexus, and other POS systems into QuickBooks
Sales Tax Reporting quarterly
• Complete end-of-month task; including, but not limited to:
- Cost of Goods Sold
- Sales reporting entry and reconciliation
- Credit Card transactions & reconciliations
- Bank and cash reconciliations
- Allocation of cost centers and shared costs.
Work with outside CPA’s on tax preparation and financial reporting to banks.
• Assist management in other day-to-day accounting tasks as required
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in accounting, preferably within the wine industry
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to follow through with projects
• Ability to accurately carry out written and verbal instructions
• Proficiency in Quick Books and Microsoft Excel, Wine Direct a plus.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a "team player”
$45/hr+ based on experience
25 hours per week
