Position Description
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Customer and Business Service, this position is responsible for financial oversight, policy research, analysis, development, evaluation, and/or operational and fiscal analysis of project-related budgets and expenses.
In addition, the incumbent will review, analyze, and process department-wide invoices, business service support, financial and business process training, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
Department Summary Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure.
FMD consists of five critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services; Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability; Environmental Health & Safety; Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations.
In support of the Cal Poly mission, the FMD department is committed to sustainability, responsible stewardship of natural resources, and promoting an inclusive culture that values individual and organizational integrity, civility, equity, and diversity.
Key Qualifications Working knowledge of basic methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them.
Thorough knowledge of a wide range of effective business practices, including but not limited to base budget and annual operating plan, budget and accounting, and financial systems.
Working knowledge of business system applications and software, including standalone systems and enterprise-scale technologies.
Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis along with techniques including the ability to interpret legal policy, laws, regulations, and guidelines to form or restructure business processes.
Demonstrated ability to clearly prepare and present ideas, including training supporting documentation, to both individuals and groups based on the topic and need.
Education and Experience Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
Three years of technical or administrative experience.
A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
