How you make a difference:
The Psychiatrist is responsible for overseeing the mental health program at the county's correctional facilities.
They work under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that the program is effectively and efficiently meeting the needs of the incarcerated population.
The Psychiatrist provides direct patient care, conducts psychiatric evaluations, and prescribes medication as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide medication prescriptions and monitoring, individual counseling, and supervise LMFT
Respond to psychiatric emergencies and conduct monthly audits of patient charts
Review and countersign records of mid-level providers and RNs
Monitor hospitalized patients and attend Quality Assurance and administrative meetings
Refer eligible inmates for 5150 and participate in Quality Management and Peer Review meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Graduate of accredited medical school
Experience
Prefer correctional/detention facility experience
Licenses/Certifications
Current, unrestricted state license as a physician
Current DEA license
Current life saving certification
