*About the Role:* Join GET SAFE as an Advocacy and Training Specialist (ATS) to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Our ATS team provides essential education and support to empower clients to enhance their personal safety skills and develop healthy relationships.
As an ATS, you'll use our training curriculum as a foundation, while applying creativity and flexibility to meet training goals and objectives.
This role involves local travel throughout nearby cities for in-person interactions with clients and families.
*The Position:* Get Safe’s Advocacy & Training Specialists (ATS) provide services and support to clients and groups with developmental disabilities who are registered with the California State Regional Center system.
ATS staff are responsible for assessing and responding to the areas of a client’s life where advocacy and assistance is needed.
Working as an Advocacy & Training Specialist (ATS), you will provide in-person training sessions on educational topics from our Healthy Relationships & Safe Sexuality Training Curriculum and Personal Safety 101 Curriculum.
The ATS will rely on the tenets of the training curriculum and supplement with a flexible mindset and attention to detail, to find creative solutions that ensure training goals and deadlines are met.
Training sessions are conducted in clients’ naturally occurring environments (e.
g.
, in homes or in community settings).
The following are details and/or responsibilities: * Part-time; non-exempt; 6-10 hours/week (Hours fluctuate weekly based on the frequency of client meetings.
) * Starting Pay Range: $23 - $24 per hour, depending on experience * Service areas: San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties * Availability preference: Mon-Fri, 10 am - 6 pm is preferred; however, position allows for unique individual availability as appointments are self-scheduled.
* Access to a reliable vehicle and ability to drive to client/group locations.
Drive time is paid and mileage is reimbursed.
*Essential Responsibilities* The following are general responsibilities of the ATS position in terms of service delivery, administrative tasks related to training services provided, and compliance with company standards for professional conduct and culture.
_*Service Delivery*_ * Be energetic, creative, and engaging with clients * Handle sensitive topics or questions from participants in a straightforward, nonjudgmental manner that promotes understanding.
* Adhere to legal and ethical standards of mandated reporting * Conduct trainings for clients, presenting educational resources on different areas of sexual education, healthy relationship, and personal safety topics * Implement training concepts applicable to the case; adapt trainings to client’s individual learning style * Assess and track progress towards training goals through detailed notetaking and program procedures * Identify and escalate risks as needed * Provide crisis intervention, as needed, to clients/families _*Administration & Professional Conduct*_ * Generate and submit clear and concise training reports and meeting notes, using proper written and grammatical English language skills * Maintain client records and activity tracking logs daily, reflecting training performed * Submit accurate activity tracking and billing logs weekly via online platforms * Participate in weekly status update reviews with Program Manager * Execute all work functions with high integrity, tact, and a positive attitude * Utilize a collaborative spirit, proactive communication, and a problem-solving mindset to provide optimal services to our clients * Establish and maintain productive working relationships with program administrative staff through consistent communication within 1-2 days via appropriate means (e.
g.
, e-mail, phone call/text message, MS Teams Chat) * Demonstrate competence and character that inspires trust by adhering to agency and program policies, procedures, directives, and ethics _*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*_ * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to build rapport and connections, with flexibility and openness to change * Detail-oriented with exceptional organization, task, and time management skills * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint * Strong written and verbal English grammar skills * Ability to maintain high level of client-confidentiality * Ability to exercise independent, sound judgment * Experience in delivering in-field training and instruction services is preferred * Experience with client documentation and progress reporting is preferred * Experience working with persons with disabilities or other underserved populations is a plus * Comfortable delivering in-person services _*Qualifications*_ * Education in social, education, or human services with 1-2 years of relevant experience * Access to/use of personal vehicle in work capacity * Willingness to travel within Tri-Counties area (San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County) * Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and integrity * A team player who is self-motivated to help, with a flexible, problem-solving mindset * Belief in our mission and in the importance of being an agent of change * Proficient and comfortable with computers and different software *Certificates, Licenses, Registrations* * Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance for personal vehicle used for work-related purposes *Working Conditions* The employee has control over personal work schedule; however, employee is required to be available for service delivery and administrative communications during regular business hours (8am-6pm), per the specifications of employee status (PT) and a minimum of 6 - 10 hours per week.
Work is performed in the field both indoor and outdoor.
The employee must be able to travel to client locations.
