WSC is seeking several Resident Engineers to assist multi-disciplinary teams in the successful delivery of a diverse range of water and wastewater infrastructure including plants, pump stations and pipelines.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of WSC's construction management practice by helping to manage client relationships, participate in project teams, and mentor entry-level staff.
These positions will be based in San Luis Obispo County.
What You Will Do Project Oversight: Provide on-site leadership and oversight for water, wastewater and/or recycled water facilities.
Ensure that construction activities align with project plans, specifications, and design intent.
Quality Assurance: Develop, implement and enforce quality control measures to guarantee the highest standards of workmanship and materials.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any deviations from approved plans.
Engage with specialty subconsultants to perform special and material inspections.
Client Interaction: Maintain strong relationships with clients by providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Collaborate with clients to understand their goals, expectations, and feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and other team members to coordinate and execute project objectives.
Foster a collaborative and positive working environment among project teams including owners, engineers, contractors and subcontractors.
Budget and Schedule Management: Review and monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
Assist in the management of project budgets, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Review contractor submitted monthly payment applications for completeness and accuracy.
Verify materials on hand and incorporated into the work.
Prepare estimates of cost, review change order requests and facilitate cost effective resolution of construction or field issues.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges during the construction process and develop proactive strategies for mitigation.
Address issues promptly to minimize impact on project timelines and budgets.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed project records, including daily reports, progress photos, and change orders.
Generate regular reports summarizing project status, challenges, and resolutions.
Manage the flow of information between the construction contractor and the engineer to assure timely responses to submittals and requests.
This position will split time between field and office work and will include a significant amount of onsite inspection and observation.
What You Bring A passion for water, with an emphasis on creating multi-benefit solutions for communities and the environment.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) licenseand/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certifications are highly desirable.
Five (5) years of professional experience in engineering and/or construction management, with a focus on water, wastewater and/or recycled water facilities.
Strong understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure design, construction methods, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with MS Office, Primavera P6, and other project management software and tools.
Clean driving record.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $130,000 annually and may be more or less depending on experience.
