Social Sciences - Full-time Lecturer in the Social Sciences Department, College of Liberal Arts, Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, California to begin September 16, 2024.
Recruitment is for one position, with a two-year appointment for the 24/25 and 25/26 Academic Year, with the option of a third-year renewal.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A Master of Arts (M.
A.
) in sociology or a closely related field and a successful teaching record are required.
ABD or PhD in sociology or closely related field is preferred.
Primary duties and responsibilities include teaching classes in race/ethnicity and genders and sexualities.
Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching in criminology, social work, and/or organizations.
Courses will be primarily taught at the Allan Hancock College campus in Santa Maria and as needed at the San Luis Obispo campus.
The main teaching load will be supporting the Cal Poly at Hancock College 2+2 program.
The 2+2 program is a new initiative, which enables place-bound students who have completed their ADT in sociology the opportunity to obtain their Cal Poly sociology bachelor's degree in Santa Maria rather than commute to San Luis Obispo.

The teaching load is 4 four-unit courses per quarter, with a total of 45 units across the academic year.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by CLA dean's office.
Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
