APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM, AND APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
MUSIC - The Music Department, College of Liberal Arts, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers with positions available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Quarters for the 2023-2024 academic year, beginning September 14, 2023.
Classes to be taught may include one-unit to two-unit activity classes in guitar, voice, and piano; large and small vocal and instrumental ensembles; private instruction in all orchestral and band instruments, piano, and voice; and lecture classes in music theory, music appreciation, music technology, and music history (all of its genres).
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department.
Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidates for activity courses and private instruction must have college-level education in music or extensive professional performing and teaching experience.
Candidates for lecture classes must have at least a Master's Degree in Music.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
