The Physics Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to hire one or more full-time lecturers for two-year contracts, with appointments beginning September 16, 2024 and ending June 13, 2026.
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The anticipated hiring range for this role is $74,700 - $85,500 annually.
Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate physics (and possibly, astronomy) lecture and lab courses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A Ph.
D.
in Physics, Physics Education, or Astronomy (or a closely related field with a strong physics background) is required.
All requirements for the Ph.
D.
must be completed before September 16, 2024.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of (or potential for) excellence in teaching.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Physics Department has approximately 50 faculty, whose primary function is teaching undergraduate physics courses to students in technical disciplines.
We offer programs of study leading to Bachelor's Degrees in Physics, with approximately 200 majors currently enrolled.
We also offer courses in astronomy, geology, geophysics, and oceanography.
