Job Summary San Luis Coastal USD is eager to welcome a new EL Aide to our Morro Bay High School team, for a 20 hour per week position.
We are also looking for team members at Baywood Elementary in Los Osos (32.
5 hours per week, and 9 hours per week).
English Learner Aides assist a teacher, or teachers, with a variety of instructional support tasks for EL (English Learner) students in a school setting, and perform related duties as assigned.
For the Morro Bay High School opportunity: The individual who will excel in this position will be fluent in both English and Spanish languages and literacy, and preferably have a basic grasp of the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects.
The candidate will support second language students (L2 students) in their various content classes throughout the academic day.
However, the schedule is flexible, and may vary from day to day to accommodate both the students' schedules and the candidate's, i.
e post secondary students are encouraged to apply.
The Aide will attend as many of the classes with students as possible, and work with the content area teachers to support the L2 students in the most effective way.
In addition, the Aide may be used in the English Language Development (ELD) classroom to work in small groups or with particular individuals to reinforce the lessons that the teacher develops relative to learning English.
A rudimentary knowledge of office machines would be helpful, but the position is first and foremost to support our English learners in all areas of their academic journey, and not to complete clerical tasks for the teacher.
Requirements / Qualifications Letter(s) of Recommendation (One letter of recommendation from a professional reference, signed, and preferably on letterhead.
Additional letters may be attached at the candidate's discretion.
) NCLB Compliance (NCLB Compliance (Must submit ONE of the following: College transcript showing an AA degree or 48 semester units, OR a certificate showing a passing score on an NCLB Paraprofessional Exam.

Candidates must pass oral board interviews with a score of 70% or higher to be added to the eligibility list.
