Job Summary The purpose of the position is to assist students with disabilities who are receiving special education services by performing paraprofessional duties including modality-based academic instruction, physical education instruction, social skills instruction, behavioral modification and management, preparation of instructional materials, clerical tasks, and related duties as assigned.
Special Education Paraeducators I and II are assigned to a variety of grade levels, preschool to adult, and a variety of settings, including resource programs, general education classes, special day classes, classrooms for emotionally disturbed students, and as one-to-one support assistance to students.
Paraeducator support may be provided in one or more of the settings described below: Resource program (RSP), Special day classes, mild/moderate (MM), Special day classes, moderate/severe (MS), Classes for emotionally disturbed (ED), Special Circumstances Instructional Assistance (SCIA), General Education Inclusion Requirements / Qualifications Copy of Transcript (Attach to be waived from written exam.
Otherwise, submit a document stating you will take the test (dates/time TBD)) Letter(s) of Recommendation (At least 1 within the past two years; signed; preferred on letterhead) Resume Comments and Other Information In an effort to fill vacant positions across many sites throughout the district for Special Education Paraeducators in the 2023-2034 school year we are able to bring in successful candidates that have placed on the current eligibility list three steps higher than the current salary schedule.
New hire starting range to be determined after consideration and review of application on file and any relevant years of education or job related experience.
Salary range for new hires will be $24.

42/hour depending on individual eligibility and placement.

If you wish to be waived from the written examination, you must submit copies of your transcripts with your application.
If hired, you will be required to submit official transcripts.
If you do not have the required units you will be contacted to take a written examination covering mathematics and writing skills required, by duties contained in the Class Specifications.

If you need to take this exam, please note this on your application.
Allow 2 hours for the examination.
Minimal written passing score is 70%.
Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and experience on a job-related basis.
Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an oral interview.
An oral interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training is required.
Interviews are approximately 20 minutes.
Date for the OB interview TBD.
Minimal passing score is 70%.
Candidates will be contacted for a hiring interview when they have placed in the top three ranks of the oral board interviews.
If you have not placed in the top three ranks, you will be placed on the eligibility list for six months from the date of the oral boards for other vacancies that may arise during that time.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process.
2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Personnel Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing.
3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview.
