Creek Lands Conservation (CLC) seeks a full-time educator to join our Conservation Science Education team.
The successful candidate will work with our Education Program Manager and other team members to support our fast-growing and very popular programs.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to experience how to use formal and informal education to help develop eco-stewards.
Our programs cover topics related to conservation, restoration, climate science, traditional ecological knowledge, curriculum development, outdoor learning adventures, leadership skills, career technical education, and team building activities.
Duties:
* Support schools that are using our "Protecting Our Watersheds" grades 3-6 curriculum.
* Support our "Central Coast Youth Environmental Stewardship" summer day camp for middle school students.
* Lead outdoor adventures (hiking, kayaking, etc.
).
* Communicate effectively (email, verbal, social media, etc.
) with program participants, CLC staff, partner organization’s staff, CLC science education manager, and public audiences as directed by supervisor.
* Use evaluation tools and communicate with the Education Program Manager to continually improve the curriculum.
Minimum Required Skills/Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in a science or education discipline, OR relevant experience.
* Knowledge of and/or interest in environmental and climate science.
* Interest in making connections with program participants, supporting participants in growing their leadership skills, and inspiring them to become stewards of the environment.
* Experience in the education field and/or facilitation of youth education programs.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to make confident decisions.
* Ability to multi-task.
* Independent and self-motivated.
* Comfortable working as a team member.
* Ability to carry 40 lbs.
and walk on uneven terrain.
* Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain and trails.
* Access to reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license, and ability to pass a background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.
00 - $25.
00 per hour
