Job Description Summary
This is a short-term/temporary position.
Under general supervision of the Aquatics Lead and Program Coordinator, provides all levels of swim lesson instruction while ensuring the continued health and safety of all participants.
Essential Functions & Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Current certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, from the American Red Cross or equivalent
Instructs participants in water-based swim lessons
Teaches swim lesson program curriculum as provided by management
Observes and respects participant's health conditions and privacy
Provides customer service to all patrons at the facility
Conveys a fun and positive experience for each participant in class
Strives for skill and stroke improvement from each participant
Demonstrates, explains, and practices skills with participants while providing global and local technique related feedback
Arrives punctually to all assigned shifts, in uniform and ready to work
Keeps class active and engaged while working individually with one participant
Sets a good example of proper pool conduct for participants to follow
Acts in friendly, enthusiastic and caring manner towards patrons and participants in class
Gives feedback to parents regarding their child's progress in class
Maintains and submits accurate course records to management
Responds appropriately to any emergencies as part of the facility safety team
Works well with all coworkers and supervisors
Participates in and attends all mandatory in-service trainings
Completes swim lesson report cards and time logs as assigned
Performs related tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Candidates with no or less than 3 months experience (either part-time or full-time) will be placed at Swim Instructor I.
Candidates with more than 3 months experience (either part-time or full-time) are eligible for Swim Instructor II.
Current certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, from the American Red Cross or equivalent
Preferred
Current certification as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) from the American Red Cross or equivalent
Current certification as a Lifeguard from the American Red Cross or equivalent
Additional Information
This is a short-term/temporary position.
Students currently enrolled at Cuesta College will be given priority.
Applications will be reviewed until all positions are filled.
This assignment has no guaranteed hours and will start only after hiring requirements are met.
