Baby goats for sale in Spring of 2024 - we are waitlisting now so email us to be added to the waitlist!!
We are Stepladder Ranch and Creamery - a small farm, creamery, and goat dairy located in Cambria, CA.
We have a closed milking herd made up exclusively of Lamancha goats, which is an excellent milking breed made up of some of the friendliest and most docile goats around.
We have 45 does due to kid between March and May, so we are expecting upwards of 110 babies to be born on the ranch this year.
While we will keep some for our own herd, we are looking for excellent homes for the majority of these little guys and gals.
We are a closed herd with zero cases of CL, CAE or Johne's to-date.
All of our kids are from heavy milk producing lines with breed characteristic high butterfat and protein that would make their future milk ideal for cheese and yogurt making or simply delicious milk for the family.
They are hand-raised to be the all around sweetest and easiest to handle livestock.
They are innately curious and affectionate and are impossible not to fall in love with.
They would be great as future milkers, furry friends and landscaping assistance/grazers.
Most of these little ones are purebred Lamancha, but a few of them come from our Mini-Lamancha buck.
These babies make excellent pets or home milkers as they are a bit smaller than their purebred cousins and many of them are naturally polled, so can produce hornless offspring.
See the pricing sheet in the photos for a breakdown of the pricing.
We have limited availability on the purebred bucklings and doelings out of our top 10 milkers, so make sure you email today if you are interested so you can reserve yours.
Also, keep in mind that we offer discounts when purchasing more than 3 babies or if you are picking your babies up before they are weaned if you are hoping to bottle raise your own baby goats - email us so we can give you a specific quote on your selection of kids.
FAQs:
Do they grow horns?
All the babies are either naturally polled or manually disbudded, so will not grow horns.
However, if you would like to purchase goats with horns to add to your own horned herd, please email us today to make this special request so we can set aside a couple of kids with horns.
Are they friendly?
All of our baby goats are handled regularly from birth and all are bottle fed on the ranch, so they are extremely friendly.
They are all Lamanchas, which is a generally a very docile, quiet, and friendly breed of goat (which is why we chose this breed).
They are very used to being held and will follow you just about anywhere!
Are they vaccinated?
We vaccinate all our goats with the CD/T vaccine that protects against enterotoxemia and tetanus.
This is given to our kids at 5 weeks and 8 weeks of age and all our adults receive a single booster yearly.
Note: if you pick up baby goats before they turn 8 weeks they will have one dose done but will need their second under your guardianship.
