_*The Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero*_ is a secure public sector hospital providing inpatient forensic services for mentally ill adult males who are court committed throughout the State of California.
The *Associate Governmental Program Analyst - Litigation Coordinator* will be directed by the *Executive Director *at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
• Consult with Department of State Hospitals (DSH) Legal and Attorney General staff on all phases of patient-based litigation.
Discuss strategies with attorneys and make recommendations for potential witnesses.
• Independently research patient medical records including, but not limited to, interdisciplinary notes, treatment plans, medical consultations, laboratory reports, open physical problems and psychological diagnosis, as appropriate, to identify documentation associated with open litigation brought against the hospital.
• Process document subpoenas related to legal actions against Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (DSH-A), or its employees initiated by patients.
• Prepares a biannual Governing Body report specific to litigation matters for Executive Director review.
Research, gather and analyze data related to active litigation and settlements during reporting period.
Monitors for data trends and patterns related to litigation and reports to the Risk Management committee and operational concerns.
• Serve as the contact person to receive and process requests received for documents under the California Public Records Act (PRA).
• Coordinate the Executive Director level review of patient complaints and prepare responses within established timeframes.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
_Experience applicable to one of the following patterns may be combined on a proportional basis with experience applicable to the other patterns to meet the total experience requirements, provided that the combined qualifying experience totals at least 30 months.
Education may not be used to reduce this 30-month limit.
_
*Education:* The following education is required when general experience is used to qualify at any level: equivalent to graduation from college.
(Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
)
*AND* *Either I Experience:* One year of experience performing the duties of a Staff Services Analyst, Range C.
*OR* *II Experience:* Three years of professional analytical experience performing duties in one or a combination of the following or closely related areas: budgeting, management analysis, personnel, planning, program evaluation, or policy analysis.
Promotional candidates who are within six months of satisfying the experience requirement for this class will be admitted to the examination, but they must fully meet the experience requirement before being eligible for appointment.
(One year of graduate work in public or business administration, industrial relations, psychology, law, political science, or a related field may be substituted for six months of the required nonsupervisory experience.
)
