*POSITION PURPOSE / JOB SUMMARY* * As a vital part of the SLO Classical Academy team, the Safety Lead is responsible for campus safety and helps manage student development and discipline.
The Safety Lead will oversee the daily operations of the Safety Team and will assist the Director of Community Life in promoting a physically, emotionally, and socially secure climate for students on campus.
He or she is responsible for both the logistics of student supervision during non-classroom time and our lunch program.

0 hours per week, benefits, PTO * The Safety Lead will report to the Community Life Manager * The Safety Lead will oversee the Safety Team * The Safety Lead will partner with teachers and staff *EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE* *Required:* * College degree or equivalent work experience * 2+ years experience of direct involvement in student care and discipline * 3+ years experience managing others * CPR certified * Technologically literate - (Mac, Word, Pages, Excel, Google Suite, etc.
) *SLOCA-specific:* * A willingness to learn about and support passionately the mission of SLO Classical Academy * Committed to support and uphold the school’s unique makeup as non-sectarian and accessible to families and employees from various backgrounds and beliefs * Clear a background check and TB screening * Ability to carry out duties as described below *DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES* *Team Oversight:* * Oversee Safety Team and the completion of their responsibilities as follows: * Attentively supervise students before and after school, while at lunch and recess, and during transitions throughout school day * Conduct regular checks on safety equipment * Provide hazard surveillance and intervention * Engage with student behavior, encouraging growth and enforcing rules and guidelines in our student Code of Conduct as needed * Respond appropriately to emergencies.
* Complete additional tasks on safety team daily task list * Plan and facilitate weekly ST meetings.
* Educate ST on relevant procedures, plans, and equipment * Ensure that ST members have proper equipment daily * Ensure that safety team and safety team subs time cards are accurate on a weekly/monthly basis *Campus Safety Oversight: * * Promote a physically, emotionally, socially, and academically secure climate for students, staff, and visitors.
* Coordinate with safety experts to ensure our facilities are up to code and ready for emergencies.
* Oversee and maintain our Emergency Plan, support materials, and emergency supplies/equipment * Schedule, communicate, and direct appropriate emergency drills * Supervise FF/AC transitions and provide relief to supervising teachers during lunch and recess.
* Communicate safety concerns to ST and/or office staff promptly *Student Conduct, Safety and Well-Being: * * Enforce rules and guidelines in the student Code of Conduct, intervening when misconduct occurs * Communicate with the appropriate parties, documenting when necessary * Assist with student accountability and consequences that take place in the classroom.
* Communicate with families to ensure that students allergies are documented properly and that a plan of intervention is in place, making sure safety team and teachers are properly informed * Utilize team to respond appropriately to emergencies.
* Document all accidents on Accident Report * Work with teachers and staff to help address behavior and growth for students, provide insight at at Family Action Plan meetings when asked.
*Other: * * Wear appropriate attire including ST vest or apron, 2 way radio, lanyard.
* Assist Director of Community Life with other duties as assigned.
* Oversee student lunch program * Keep inventory of playground and safety/first aid equipment and supplies.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS* * Able to lift up to 25 pounds on a limited basis.
Able to sit at a desk or in meetings for long periods of time and move about campuses easily.
Able to work irregular hours if needed for meetings, etc.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $19.
00 - $21.
00 per hour Expected hours: 32.
