Job description JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Engineering Manager, Applications Department: Engineering Reports To: Vice President of Engineering Status: Exempt Date Issued: June 2022 Summary: The Applications Engineering Manager leads Newterra’s Applications Engineering.
Together the team is responsible for understanding the customer’s water challenge, working with other technical resources as required to determine Newterra’s best offering and then creating an accurate scope of supply and cost for the appropriate water/wastewater treatment solutions available in the suite of Newterra offerings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
Ensure proposals provide accurate scope and costing for a solution that meets customer and Newterra specifications.
2.
Continue to improve tools to increase efficiency in proposal preparation.
3.
Participate in strategy and “how to win” discussions with the teams.
4.
Improve knowledge transfer within Newterra.
5.
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
6.
Provide support to Sales, Product Development, Procurement, Marketing, Lifecycle, Environmental Solutions and Customer Service as required.
7.
Provide regular status communication to management and team members.
8.
Participate in relevant quality initiatives, driving a continuous improvement culture within the team to address tool/process/efficiency improvements as well as feedback from production, the field, and other areas of the organization.
9.
Develop and adhere to department budget 10.
Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
11.
Provide regular reporting on team metrics 12.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: · Lead, mentor and develop direct reports to their full potential as engaged members of the Newterra team.
· Participate in meetings as required for projects and other organizational requirements.
· Continue to improve tools to increase efficiency in job function.
· Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures.
This includes reporting all safety concerns, near-misses, and incidents.
· Adhere to the company processes as detailed in Newterra’s online systems and programs and bring forward ideas for continuous improvement.
· Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to the position in the appropriate timeframe.
· Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · University or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required or equivalent experience.
· Licensed Professional Engineer in the state or province you work preferred.
· 3+ years’ experience in a leadership or mentorship role.
· Experience with wastewater or water treatment operation, design, or costing preferred · Prior budgeting experience desired as this position will be measured by its ability to improve profitability of the business unit it directly supports.
· Proven working knowledge of Pumps, Blowers, and other fluid handling equipment.
· Excellent organization, time management, and leadership skills.
· Competent in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Experience using SolidWorks, Inventor or another 3D CAD program an asset PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be required to sit for prolonged periods or required to frequently stand, walk, and use business equipment daily such as a computer, copier, telephone, etc.
; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 15 lbs.
Complex thinking and analysis required with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Work Environment Generally, works in office environment.
