PUBLIC HEALTH, PART-TIME LECTURER POOL The Kinesiology & Public Health Department in the College of Science and Mathematics at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for the Public Health part-time lecturer pool.
Appointments are available as determined by need during Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarter of the 2023-24 academic year.
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience, and time base.
Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate Public Health major, and general education courses.
Assignments may include a combination of the following: General education courses in healthy living, multicultural health, and women's health First Aid & CPR; physical activity & wellness courses.
Public Health undergraduate courses such as introduction to public health; epidemiology; drug education; health behavior theory; health education for teachers; injury prevention; medical terminology; media & technology in health promotion; public health internship; research methods in public health settings; stress and chronic disease; work-site health promotion.
Laboratory courses in epidemiology, research methods in public health settings, health promotion program planning & evaluation; obesity prevention & treatment, stress and chronic disease.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department.
Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A Master's degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Education/Promotion, Health Psychology, or related field with relevant experience in a public health setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES/MCHES).
Preference given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in college teaching and/or relevant experience in a public health setting.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
