Earth Systems has an opening for a Business Development Professional for our California offices.
Our headquarters are located in San Luis Obispo with 11 locations throughout California.
Travel to all locations required.
The Business Development Professional is responsible for developing and implementing effective public relations and business development plans based on the company’s strategic goals.
This position plays a vital role in growing the business through developing new clients, growing current client relationships, researching markets and opportunities and bringing in prospects for introduction to our company’s qualifications and abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop/maintain effective business development plans and strategies for each profit center, addressing client prospecting, pursuit activities, relationship building, and lead qualification.
This includes preparing and updating specific business development strategies as necessary.
Conduct market research to identify industry trends, emerging opportunities, and challenges.
Work with operations to monitor and advance business development efforts, spanning from opportunity identification and project pursuit to post-award debriefing following SOQ submission.
Evaluate client development requirements and institute processes and initiatives to meet these requirements effectively.
Follow up regularly with management on current business development efforts and strategies.
Monitor ConstructConnect and other lead sources (PlanetBids, Environet, etc.
) to review and identify leads or opportunities, coordinate with Managing Principals and the Manager of the Marketing Department regarding pursuit of specific opportunities.
Responsible for the administration, maintenance and oversight of CRM – Cosential.
Develop dashboards and reports as needs are identified.
Directs team in its use and application.
Attend and actively participate in industry-related associations, conferences, tradeshows, and events to maximize networking opportunities, establish contacts, and identify potential project and teaming opportunities.
Conduct research and track legislation affecting the AEC industry.
Assists marketing/proposal team in accurate completion, layout, and submittal of SOQs and other marketing materials.
Always ensure positive public perception of company, both internally and externally, leading by example in terms of comportment and attitude.
Respond to requests and/or surveys from reputable publications for industry information.
Assists in the production of event planning, presentation, and research as it relates to business development.
Assists with corporate communications.
Coordinates with outside vendors when necessary.
Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge and Skills: Professional and positive demeanor.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of firm’s practice, clientele, goals, policies, and procedures.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Knowledge of Cosential or similar CRM system, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, Word Press and/or other industry standard software for creativity and operations.
High level of writing proficiency and verbal communication skills to interface effectively and professionally with employees, managers, internal and external clients.
Highly competent in business development theory and practice, and adept at engaging effectively with individuals both within and outside the organization.
Highly organized, detail orientated, and excellent time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to explain complex concepts.
Actively involved in professional and community organizations, Good grasp of local culture, politics, economy, and place as they pertain to the built environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organization and project objectives.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, Communications or related field with 5+ years’ experience.
Experience in AEC industries preferred.
Professional services business development experience with proven track record of driving business growth.
The expected starting pay range for this position is $70,000-$85,000 per year.
Exact rate is dependent on several factors such as experience, skills, education, licensures, and geographic location.
Employment conditioned upon the satisfactory completion of a background check, review of Motor Vehicle Records, drug screening, and a medical evaluation appropriate to the position.
