Assistant Project
Superintendent
Main Role
The Senior Field Engineer / Assistant Project Superintendent is to assure customer
satisfaction and assist the Project Manager and Project Superintendent in
administration and management of the project.
Responsibilities, Authorities, and Key Result Areas
• Effectively communicates with on-site Harris Field Management and trades
to ensure performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are
met
• Consistently collaborates with Superintendent, Project Manager, and
Project team
• Implement schedule, coordination relative to all Subcontractors at the
jobsite.
• Interpretation of the plans and specifications and supervise quality of
performance.
• Assure that jobsite safety is strictly enforced on a daily basis.
• Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in developing long-range
operating plans to supplement project schedule.
• Supervise Subcontractors in their development of short-range operational
plans.
• Evaluate effectiveness of each operation for quality and productivity.
Monitor production of all Subcontractors.
• Initiate positive action to correct substandard quality and/or productivity in
coordination with the Inspector, Architect, Owner and Project Manager
• Assures adequate staffing of all trades for Subcontractors work
• Communicate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to assure a
continuous flow of current information.
• Report immediately any unusual events or crises to the Project Manager
and Superintendent.
• Monitor, schedule and coordinate corrective action with the
Subcontractors.
• Conduct all Pre-Installation Meetings and Contractor Coordination
Meetings
• Create accurate look ahead schedules for weekly coordination meetings.
Depict baseline schedule versus actual for comparison of overall schedule
status.
• Review shop drawings for accuracy and integration with other
materials/construction.
• Review project for potential schedule and/or budget enhancements to
budget through doubled work or value engineering.
Reports to: Project Manager and Project Superintendent
Qualifications
• Degree in Construction related field
• 3 – 5 years of experience on Prevailing Wage, Public Sector construction
projects
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
)
• Knowledge of construction processes
• Intermediate understanding of plan reading
• Knowledge of technical terminology
• Firm understanding of construction sequencing
• Understands fundamental business activities and procedures for
construction projects
