What do Camp Counselors do?
The Camp Counselor is responsible for a group of children ages 3-14 years of age.
Responsibilities with this position include but are not limited to supervision of children, program development, staff development, general maintenance, safety, parent involvement, and communication.
Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing camp programs in accordance with guidelines from American Camping Association (ACA)
Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)
Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive
Track attendance, ensure a valid membership is on file, and children are released to caretakers
Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs
Assist in supervising activities and lesson plans
Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards
Set up and cleanup of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc
Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with children and families
Must be at least 18 years old
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience working in related field preferred
Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hir
Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance
