Under supervision of Associate Director of Instruction over Community Programs develop and provide workshops on topics related to STEM subjects, focusing on renewable energy.
A 4-day camp for high school 9th and 10th graders is planned for Monday-Thursday, June 12-15, 2024 on the San Luis Obispo campus.
Two positions: 1) Cuesta faculty to serve as Lead; 2) SLO County High School teacher to assist with development and delivery of the sessions Essential Functions & Qualifications ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & QUALIFICATIONS: Assist in the planning of a 4-day camp for high school 9th and 10th graders on STEM subjects, with a focus on renewable energy Develop curriculum for workshops that cover topics related to STEM subjects, focusing on renewable energy, and relevant career pathways Prepare a list of equipment and supplies needed for the camp Assist with the promotion of the camp Present workshops topics related to STEM subjects, focusing on renewable energy, and relevant career pathways Participate in a train-the-trainer orientation for NextEra curriculum on renewable energy Assist with the implementation of the camp Oversee classroom management and monitoring of participants Develop a Cuesta course outline based on relevant content of the camp.
Cuesta faculty or SO County high school teacher with a minimum of two years teaching experience in STEM Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Assignment Details Immediate need beginning in early Spring 2024: Up to 75 hours planning, curriculum development and preparation Monday-Thursday June 12-15, 2024 (min.
6 hours per day) San Luis Obispo campus (min.
24 hours total) Additional Information This is a short-term/temporary position.
